NO THEY DON'T. I saw a car run a red light and run into another vehicle. I had to testify in court. I didn't need to protect my testimony. New information might change what you saw, that is the nature of better information, not that you somehow lost your testimony!

Talks like this makes me think how many people say no to callings.

To those that are still attending but without callings. If someone approaches you over the next few months, cut them off before they get the opportunity.

Yes, I heard Shumway's talk. No, I still don't want a calling.

The important bit is to name drop Shumway before they get an opportunity to share the talk with you. It communicates to them that you already know where they're going.
