P.S. I almost posted this under Doctrine, because I believe Joseph Smith felt he was mandated by God to do these things.

There is definitely a pattern. I suspect it could also apply to autocratic leaders of many other high-demand organizations.

I attended festivities with a fellow ex-mo. Highly enjoyed the huge turnout where we are. Quite surprising to see such a large group in what I thought was conservative area.

Felt sorry for Army guys having to put on that parade.
We're going to honor you by making you work - I suppose parallels poor local leaders in church too. Squeaky tanks slowly driving down rainy street by empty bleachers, poor things. Could have celebrated with a gift - like taking care of veterans or something
